Cassandra's thesis work focused on the devastating fires that swept through New Mexico in 2022. As part of her research, she traveled to Mora, New Mexico and spoke with numerous residents and documented the aftermath. The installation included a watercolor triptych using charcoal from the burn area, an artist book, and salvaged sculptural objects. The exhibition was held at the Center for Visual Arts in Denver, CO in April 2023. See details.
Cassandra grew up in the small, mountain town of Durango, Colorado and settled in Denver shortly after she graduated from Colorado College with a BA in Economics and a minor in East Asian Studies. She worked for a handful of years in international business education, but was drawn to the creative side of marketing. This interest led her to work as a graphic designer for more than twenty-five years.
In 2019, Cassandra returned to school and earned her BFA in Painting and Ceramics. She and her husband now live in Taos, New Mexico. Her current work explores the use of site vegetation to make handmade paper, wet cyanotype, and plant-sourced pigments. View her CV.
These works are representative of her exploration of nature and the human condition.
